Ellen MacArthur - Solo Non-Stop Around the World Multihull record !!
February 21, 2005 - Ellen MacArthur has done it!! She has captured the Solo Non-Stop Around the World Multihull record. She completed her circumnavigation after 71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes beating the previous record set by Francis Joyon by 1 day, 8 hours and 33 minutes.

Steve Fossett and Cheyenne crew - Smashed Jules Verne Round the World record
April 5, 2004 - The 125 ft. maxi-catamaran, Cheyenne, has smashed the round-the-world Jules Verne record by almost 6 days. The previous record of 64 days 8 hours 37 minutes and 24 seconds was set by "Orange" in 2002. Steve Fossett and the Cheyenne crew completed the circumnavigation in 58 days 9 hours 32 minutes and 45 seconds.
Cheyenne and her crew left the start line near the western edge of the English Channel on February 7, 2004. They triumphed over multiple boat technical failures along with challenging winds and seas to finish well ahead of Orange's previous record.
Commanders' Weather provided weather forecasts and routing suggestions to Cheyenne and her crew. We staffed our office 24 hours a day to be available when Steve Fossett or Adrienne Cahalan, the navigator, needed to discuss the weather forecast or routing strategy.

Great American II - Ocean Challenge Live, Hong Kong to New York
CONGRATULATIONS !!! - At 9:11pm on May 27, 2003, Great American II crossed the finish line at Ambrose Light Tower, New York after 72 days, 21 hours, 11 minutes and 38 seconds at sea. They sucessfully beat the record of the China Trade clipper ship, Sea Witch, who made that same trip in 1849.
On March 16, 2003, the 53ft. trimaran, Great American II, departed Hong Kong for New York City. Rich Wilson and Rich du Moulon challenged the record of the China Trade clipper ship, Sea Witch, who made the trip in 74 days and 14 hours. Along the way, Great American II have shared their live adventures with schools and families who are interested in the practical History, Geography, Science and Math they have learned enroute.

Assa Abloy - Volvo Ocean Race - Second Place Overall !!!
The crew of Assa Abloy have triumphed in the 2002 Volvo Ocean Race! After overcoming disappointing 1st and 2nd legs in the race, they were able to rise in the standings during the remainder of the legs to finish with second position overall.
Commanders' Weather has been meeting the team at the starting city of each leg to brief the crew on the upcoming weather situation and discuss routing strategies. We are proud to have been a part of this impressive team.

Steve Fossett and Playstation crew - 'Round the Island' record
39 knot top boat speed and winds of 25-30 knots the entire way helped Steve Fossett and the crew of Playstation convincingly breaking the Isle of Wight 'Round the Island' record in November 2001.
The 125 ft. maxi-catamaran completed the course in 2 hours, 33 minutes and 55 seconds which is 36 minutes less than the previous record set by Pattison and Joyon on the 60 ft. trimaran Dexia Eure et Loire (pending ratification by the WSSRC). "We needed 1 tack (at the Needles) and 1 gyge (at Bambridge) all the way around" remarked Steve Fossett.

Steve Fossett and Playstation crew - Transatlantic record
An 11-yr. old west to east transatlantic record, from Ambrose Light Tower, New York, to Lizard Point in SW England was handily broken by Steve Fossett and the crew of Playstation in October 2001.
The 125 ft. maxi-catamaran, Playstation, broke the old record of 6 days, 13 hours and 3 minutes by over 40 hours. They crossed the Atlantic with an average speed of 25.78 knots in 4 days, 17 hours, 28 minutes and 6 seconds.
Commanders' Weather was in daily contact with Stan Honey of the Playstation crew beginning in September 2001 with a synopsis of Atlantic weather pattern and the possibility of a record breaking crossing. Finally, at the beginning of October 2001, the weather pattern began to shape up for the record attempt. The meteorologists at Commanders' Weather were responsible for the weather forecast and suggested routing for the great Maxi as it made it's way across the Atlantic.
In addition, Playstation travelled 687.17 nautical miles in a 24-hour period, averaging 28.63 knots, breaking the old record set by Club Med of 655.13 nautical miles in February 2001.

60 ft. Multihull 24-hour Distance Record
Congratulations to Yvan Bourgnon and the crew of "Bayer En France" for setting the 60 ft. multihull 24-hour distance record in the Quebec City to St. Malo, France Transatlantic Race!!
Their record was 625.34 miles in 24 hours, with an average speed of 26 knots. The previous record was 540 miles set in 1994 by Laurent Bourgnon racing solo in the same boat.  This record is just short of the all time record for the longest distance in 24 hours set by any size boat. The record is 625.7 miles set in June 2000 by Club Med, a 110ft. maxi catamaran.
